What We Watched

We have two recommendations for DVD rentals. We needed our spirits lifted Saturday night so we went with a warm little comedy and an Oscar nominated documentary.

Both were enjoyable and can tell you they are worth your time.

Full disclosure, I like Zach Galifianakis. He's odd but generally low-key with the whole teddy bear thing going on. It drags a little in the third act and paints mental patients as quirky but nice (as Hollywood is want to do, unless it's a horror film). But, it was enjoyable and had fun surprises.

I had never heard of Banksy, but I did recognize some of his graphics. In fact, I'm pretty sure Dad's old red t-shirt with the rats was inspired by or stolen from him. This was a very interesting movie. I learned a lot about the whole underground guerrilla street art scene, as it were. It's also very funny. Don't let me put you off, it is worth seeing. It's entertaining and gets its point across without making your brain hurt.

As soon as you finish your homework or get all those NDA's reviewed you can relax with one of these little films.

  1. You should just ask Todd. He has all kinds of good stories about the "street art scene", and he knows everyone you'll be watching documentaries about in the next decade.
(btw: all those nda's reviewed? Never gonna happen!!)

  2. I thought about Todd while watching this. I can see a correlation between the art and skate scene. The fact that he films a lot of it relates to the guy the film is about. You should watch it. It's on demand thru Netflix.
